The Best Off Leash Dog Parks In Oakville

Whether you’re a new puppy parent or a seasoned veteran, you’ll be happy to know that there are several (7 to be exact) amazing off-leash dog parks around Oakville. You are never more than a 10 minute drive to off-leash freedom where your favourite canine can blow off some steam and play with other neighbourhood dogs. Here are my top three off-leash dog parks in Oakville.
Shell Park is a favourite for our dog, Molly, and has a "4 bones out of 5" rating on Bring Fido. It also has lots of other fun activities for humans including several kilometres of trails (also fun for on-leash walking), a playground, skate park, tennis courts, soccer fields, and lots of parking.
Also known as ‘North Park Leash Free’, this off-leash park is located right by the 16 Mile Sports Complex and North Field sport turf facilities. There’s always lots of parking and it’s really convenient to exercise the dog while you wait for your child to finish practice. There is nothing like killing two birds with one stone when life is busy. 16 Mile Dog Park also has great Google reviews and I’ve generally found all the visitors, human and canine to be very friendly.
Post Park rounds out Molly’s top three favourite places to hang out and run free. Located in a quiet corner of Post Park, the off-leash area is surrounded by lots of trees, providing great shade dogs and people. There’s also a water source for the dogs, a playground, and a soccer field nearby for the kids to enjoy.
Beyond off-leash dog parks, you’ll find that Oakville is a very dog-friendly place to live. We have over 200 kilometers of walking trails (many of which allow dogs on a leash) and lots of local merchants will leave water bowls and treats outside their shops — ask nicely and some will welcome your dog inside as long as they are well-behaved. I’ve also found excellent veterinary services, pet stores, grooming services, puppy sitting, doggy daycare, and backyard pooper scooper services.
